In celebration of the Fire Prevention Month, Mrs. Zenaida C. San Pedro, principal II of Tortugas ES, conducted an orientation to raise awareness on fire prevention on March 20, 2014. Grade five pupils participated on the said orientation where Mrs. San Pedro identified and discussed the common causes of fires from simple carelessness, irresponsibility and lack of knowledge in the proper use of fire. She also discussed the effects of fire and how it destroys lives and properties. In addition,  she also discussed some ways on how to prevent fires like not using octopus connection, turning off the electrical appliances when not in use, not playing with matches and many more. She further encouraged the students to help disseminate the information to other students as well as to their parents in order to reduce the risks of being a victim of fires.
