To further inculcate the value of books to our school children, the Department of Education issued a memorandum making November as National Reading Month. This is in support of the Ten – Point Education Agenda of the Aquino Administration and to promote the “Every Child A Reader Program (ECARP)”.

November is also a month in which we remember in special way the “Supremo, Andres Bonifacio”, the Father of the Philippine Revolution. But this November, we will also commemorate the birth anniversary of another modern Philippine hero, the late Senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino, Jr.

With this year’s theme, “Nasa Pagbasa ang Pag – asa”, different activities were done as stated in the DepEd Memo No. 182 s. 2012 Enclosure No.1

As further stated in the same memorandum, November 27, 2012 is “Araw ng Pagbasa” hence at nine o’clock in the morning, Barangay Chair Victor Baluyot, Jr. of Tortugas, led the story telling activity at the Conference Room of Tortugas Elemetary School with the pupils from kinder to Grade III. The title of the story is “Ang Pambihirang Buhok ni Lola”. After reading the story, the barangay chair asked questions and the pupils answered actively. Meanwhile Grades IV – VI pupils had their story “Pag – ibig sa Tinubuang Lupa – Benigno Aquino, Jr. ” taken from Makabayan Herald with Barangay Councilor Rogelio De Guzman.
