            Ika-20 ng Setyembre ganap na ika-11 ng umaga ay naghanda ang aming paaralan ng isang programa para sa  natatanging babae na si Josefa Llanes Escoda. Ang araw na ito ay isang napaka espesyal na araw sapagkat ipinagdiriwang ang kanyang kaarawan bilang pag-alaala na rin  sa kanyang mabuting ginawa para sa mga sundalong Pilipino.

            Pinasimulan ang programa sa isang taimtim na panalangin na pinangunahan ni Gng. Allen Jane P. Macalinao, guro sa kinder na sinundan naman ng pag-awit ng pambansang awit sa pagkumpas ni Gng. Connie M. Andrade, guro sa ikaapat na baitang. Sa pagpapatuloy ng programa ay nagbigay naman ng makabuluhang mensahe an gaming mabait at masipag na ina ng aming paaralan na si Gng. Zenaida C. San Pedro, Punong-guro II ng Tortugas ES. At upang magbalik tanaw sa buhay ni Josefa Llanes Escoda ay naroon si Gng. Rofelia D. Buenaventura, guro sa ikatlong baitang pangkat B. At matapos nito ay binigkas ng mga babaing iskawt ang Girl Scout Laws and Promises na pinangunahan ng mga piling mag-aaral at batang iskawt na rin na sina Dayanara Jean Laborcero at Arabella Marie P. Almario. At bilang pag-alala sa kanyang buting ginawa noon ay nag-alay ng mga bulaklak ang mga batang iskawt kasabay ng kanilang pag-awit ng mga awiting pang girl scout.

            Sa pagtatapos ng maikling programa ay maraming natutuhan ang mga mag-aaral . Dito ay kanilang nabatid ang naging kontribusyon ni Josefa Llanes Escoda sa ating mga Pilipino. Kaya naman sa pagtatapos ng programa baon nila ang kaalaman na napulot mula rito. 

TES Star Scouts Take Part in Day Camp

October is Scouting Month. Hence, the Girl Scout of the Philippines, Bataan Chapter celebrated the Scouting Month on October 20, 2012 at Bataan National High School Gym, City of Balanga at 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM. This year’s theme is “Stop the Violence: Speak Out for Girls’ Rights”. In support of the said celebration, Tortugas Elementary School joined the Star Scout Day Camp. Six Star Scouts from Grades II and Grade III with two troop leaders attended the Day Camp. The Star Scout Day Camp started with the singing of the National Anthem conducted by Monalisa Bugay, District Field Adviser of Morong District. Representative from Bagac District led the “Panunumpa sa Watawat” Star Scouts from District I was assigned to lead the Rededication to the Girl Scout Promise and Law. Reflection was read by the District Field Adviser from Mariveles District. The attendees were welcomed by Dr. Anita M. de Dios, Council President. Since the guest speaker was not able to grace the occasion, Dr. De Dios gave inspiring thoughts about the theme of the celebration. The talent show of the Star Scouts from the different district concluded the part one of the celebration.

The part two activity was the arts and crafts wherein the star scouts made their own bracelets made from beads. Since, playing is part of being children, the star scouts enjoyed the day as they play “Mother Went to Market”. The awarding of certificates concluded the Star Scout Day Camp.

Four TES Girl Scouts Join the Provincial Encampment

Pursuant to Division Memo No. 73 s. 2012 dated October 8, four Girl Scouts namely Nikki Hershey R. Dionisio, Glynndy de Leon, Rhizia Joyce Sanchez and Jenny Ladera from Tortugas Elementary School joined the twenty – first Junior and Senior Provincial Encampment held at Styella Mariz Beach Resort Bagac, Bataan on November 15 – 18 with the theme, “Save Mother Earth”.

The opening program highlighted the messages of the two officials with key position in the Division Office they were Dr. Carolina Sugpatan and Dr. Robert Osongco both hold the position of Assistant Schools Division Superintendent. The two speakers gave substantial messages to the Girl Scouts. Dr. Sugpatan further mentioned in her messages that to be a member of the GSP is a good avenue to show compassion for our environment. On the other hand, Dr. Osongco encouraged the scouts to help save Mother Earth even in their own simple ways. The final opening of the encampment was signalled by the raising of the GSP flag.

Various activities which challenged the skills, interest and creativity of scouts were offered during the encampment. These activities were:

·         *      Fire Drill and Safety. The licensed firemen discussed the safety measures when one is trapped on fire.

·         *      Sand Sculpture. Teamwork was manifested in this activity the girl scouts helped one another in building a sand castle.

·         *      Jingle Contest. The Girl Scout actively participated in jingle making. They enthusiastically demonstrated their jingle to the judges.

·         *      Folk Dance. The Girl Scouts got familiar to the different steps used in folk dances.

·         *      Arts and Crafts. Creativity and interest were demonstrated in this activity. They made art work on how to save the environment.

·         *      Obstacle. Strong mind and body was being tested in this activity. The girl scouts finished the obstacle race with satisfaction.

·         *      Campfire. Different presentations were showed during the campfire activity.

·         *      Miss Earth. This activity is for the outreach program of the GSP – Bataan Council.

·         *      SCOUTS OWN. Being Girl Scout is being done with nature. SCOUTS OWN is an activity wherein each girl scout is given a chance to feel one with nature.

In these activities, the campers demonstrated leadership, teamwork and perseverance.

So on their closing ceremony GSP Balanga City were awarded with certificates and trophies for placing third in jingle, third in sand sculpture and third in dance.

As they concluded the encampment, the campers were expected to try to put into practice the principles embodied in the Girl Scout (GSP) Promise and Law, as how they learned them during the encampment.
